Biography
Chris Bota is a Grand Rapids based guitarist, music teacher, and songwriter who primarily plays with the American Rock band, Desmond Jones. While not touring, writing, or recording with DJ, Chris likes to spend his time learning, performing, and teaching American Jazz tunes and Country tunes of yesteryear and often picking apart some contemporary music as well, all while using these influences to guide his own songwriting. Not letting himself be defined by specific genres, Chris likes to say that the music he plays and writes goes by the simple, broad, yet descriptive moniker of "American Music".
Chris' teaching style focuses on finding out what type of music inspires each of his students and catering a personal lesson plan around their musical goals. While Chris' expertise lie in rock, jamband, metal, jazz, blues, RnB, bluegrass, country, and folk, he is open to learning ANY style of music with his students and hopes to leave each student with the desire, drive, and knowledge to pursue their musical dreams to their fullest extent! Beyond just learning and playing a song note for note, Chris makes sure that each student is at least introduced to composition, improvisation, and music production knowing that the pursuit of music is much more expansive than simply regurgitating a piece of music note for note.
